George Cockburn & son first opened on Mill Street on the 12th of August 1955 and quickly grew a reputation for the highest quality meat and home made sausages, pies and puddings. Over the years the shop has continued to develop and expand the ranges of products to the discerning customer. By personally selecting only the finest locally reared beef lamb and pork as well as the finest local game we can give our customers the top quality meat that they have now come to expect.

While the reputation of our produce was well known locally it was in 1976 that we gained national recognition on becoming Scotland's first ever Champion Haggis Makers. Recent years have seen the Haggis go from a once a year meal on Burns night to being used every week in a variety of dishes by housewives and restaurants alike.
